New Colombo-Kandy train service

"Sri Lanka Railways has arranged a new weekend inter-city train service between Colombo and Kandy on Saturday and Sunday from June 26," said Sri Lanka Railways Planning Director Vijaya Samarasinghe.

This will be in addition to the two existing inter-city trains between Colombo and Kandy operated at 7 am and 3 pm.

The new intercity will leave Colombo Fort at 9.30 am and reach Kandy at 11.57 am.

The train from Kandy will leave at 5.45 pm and reach Colombo Fort at 8.16 pm.

This new train will have four second class compartments and an observation car.

A second class ticket will be Rs 220 and an observation car ticket will be Rs 360, he said.
