President participates in Amarapura Maha Nikaya ordination ceremony

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday participated in the higher ordination ceremony of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya including its 22 sectors at the Kandana, Walpola Sri Wimalaratnarama Vidya Nivasa Pirivena.

Maha Nayaka Thera of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya Most Ven Aggamahapanditha Dauldena Gnanessara Thera and Anunayaka Thera and Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha President Most Ven Aggamahapanditha Kotugoda Dhamawasa Thera also participated.

Parivenadhipathi of Anuradhapura Sri Sarananda Pirivena and patron of Sri Lanka Ramannya Maha Nikaya Ven Girabe Ananda Thera was presented a scroll carrying the honorary title by President Rajapaksa.

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Deputy Economic Development Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga were also present.
