Ratnapura road development project inauguration today
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa will inaugurate a
provincial road development project in the Ratnapura district today. The
project is launched by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council with funding
from the Economic Development Ministry under the 2011 budget proposal,
states an Economic Development Ministry press release.
A stretch of 275 km of the provincial roads will be developed and
carpeted in the Ratnapura district under this programme.
Acting on the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Economic
Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa initiated the provincial road
development project to create a good road network islandwide.
Under this programme a stretch of 3740 km of road will be developed
and carpeted in all districts in 2011.
Total cost of the project is Rs 22,000 million. The proposed
development includes carpeting roads, improvement of road pavements,
bridges, drainage, and replacement of culverts of the proposed roads.
On Saturday, Minister Basil Rajapaksa will inaugurate the carpeting
of 99 Gangeyaya Road of the Kolonna electorate division, Karawita to
Hangamuwa via Karawita Road in the Nivithigala electorate division. Old
village council road from Pahala Galathura clock tower to central
Galathura in Kalawana electorate division and Kuruwita-Pahathagama
Gorakaella road in Ratnapura electorate division.
Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W D J Seneviratne,
Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Maheepala Herath, Power and Energy Deputy
Minister Premalal Jayasekera will participate. |
