National Mosquito Control Week:
Over 2,800 dengue larvae places detected on fourth day

The fourth day of the National Mosquito Control Week ended with the
detection of 2,808 places with dengue mosquito larvae.
Legal action was taken against 1,811 people whose homes and gardens
were found to have mosquito breeding nurseries, a Health Ministry
spokesman said.
According to the spokesman the inspectors detected 24,982 potential
dengue mosquito breeding sites during their inspections and issued
warnings to 48,841 house owners who kept mosquito breeding sites within
their properties.
They were warned to clean their properties within two weeks. The
total number of places inspected was 84,509. Inspection and cleaning was
done in 305 MoH areas.
During the past four days, 280,772 places countrywide were inspected
by the authorities. Legal action will be taken against the person who
attacked a PHI during an inspection at Maharagama recently.
The National Mosquito Control Week commenced on June 20 and ends on
June 26, he said. |
