Pension for self-employed

A legislation to provide pension benefits to self-employed persons will be drafted by the government, said Sri Lanka Freedom Employees Union (SLFEU) Vice President Ranjit Abeysekara.

He said so at a media briefing held at the Galle Face Hotel, recently. He said a request was made to President Mahinda Rajapaksa by the SLFEU in this regard.

He said most people engaged in self-employment ventures, face problems.

Discussions are being held by the government to make this idea a reality. SLFEU President and Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana was also present.
