Productivity key to development - Minister

All must work with dedication to increase productivity. The country is developing rapidly after 30 years of terrorism, Productivity Promotion Minister Lakshman Seneviratne said.

The Minister was speaking at the awards ceremony for the Art Competition organized under the theme household productivity.

He said the main theme of a developing country is productivity and we should have the right attitude to increase productivity.

The Minister said a special programme has already been initiated to improve productivity at grass roots level and this would also help enhance productivity in the public sector. He said the poster and Art competition has helped create an awareness amongst all. A work of art carries the message of productivity which is an essential feature of development as enunciated in the Mahinda Chinthana programme.

The minister said it is vital to convey the message to the people on the importance of managing their day-to-day activities in an effective, efficient and holistic manner. Ministry Secretary W.M. Bandusena, National Productivity Secretariat Director J.M. Thilaka Jayasundara, Ministry representatives and students were also present.
