President instructs officials to take swift action:

SLTB salary, bonus issue settled

President Mahinda Rajapaksa instructed the SLTB officials to take swift action to settle a salary and bonus issue of SLTB employees.

'The SLTB employees should be protected to increase the SLTB's efficiency to ensure high quality service to the public, the President said.

This was revealed at a discussion between the President and SLTB officials at Temple Trees yesterday.

The SLTB officials pointed out to the President that present crisis was due to the short-sighted decisions taken during the UNP regime and now they have started to create many problems.

The President directed Transport Minister Kumara Welgama to settle all the issues in the SLTB and provide the best service to the public.

The Minister disclosed how the SLTB will compete with the private sector in future and increase its productivity to ensure utmost satisfaction of all the SLTB employees and the public. Minister C.B.Rathnayake, Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Transport Ministry Secretary Dhammika Perera also attended the meeting.
