Minister orders speedy completion of road project

Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma directed officials to complete the Matara Broadway road widening project before July 30. The minister issued this directive at a meeting of the Matara City Development Committee at the Matara District Secretariat recently.

The project involving the widening of Broadway road from Mahanama Bridge to Nupe junction is estimated to cost Rs 1,000 million. Already Rs 522 million has been paid as compensation to owners of trade establishments dismantled to pave the way for the extension project, it was revealed at this meeting.
