Financial aid for A’pura patients

The North Central Provincial Chief Minister’s fund has launched a scheme to offer financial aid to low income group patients in the Anuradhapura district to receive treatment for their ailments.

Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake inaugurating the scheme said that there was a large number of patients who were required to spend large sums monthly for medical treatment which they could not afford.

Such persons would be granted an adequate allowance to cover their expenses, he said.

The chief minister appealed to affluent citizens and public organizations to contribute to such meritorious schemes for the benefit of the low income group families.

He said that a programme was launched by the NCP Provincial Council to distribute specially designed water filters free of charge to nearly 20,000 kidney patients. Each unit costs Rs 11,000.

The chief minister handed over cheques worth Rs 582,500 to needy patients at the inauguration ceremony.
