Financial aid for A’pura patients

The North Central Provincial Chief Minister’s fund has launched a
scheme to offer financial aid to low income group patients in the
Anuradhapura district to receive treatment for their ailments.
Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake inaugurating the scheme
said that there was a large number of patients who were required to
spend large sums monthly for medical treatment which they could not
afford.
Such persons would be granted an adequate allowance to cover their
expenses, he said.
The chief minister appealed to affluent citizens and public
organizations to contribute to such meritorious schemes for the benefit
of the low income group families.
He said that a programme was launched by the NCP Provincial Council
to distribute specially designed water filters free of charge to nearly
20,000 kidney patients. Each unit costs Rs 11,000.
The chief minister handed over cheques worth Rs 582,500 to needy
patients at the inauguration ceremony. |
