Priyanka Kurugala
The National Craft Council under the concept of its chairman Buddhi
Keerthisena has commenced a programme to make traditional craftsmen
aware of their industries.
One of the main aims of the programme is to produce traditional
crafts of high quality to suit the modern market.
The National Craft Council plans to conduct residential training
workshops regarding each traditional industry. The National Craft
Council is presently conducting a workshop for those involved in the
clay pottery industry at the Baththaramulla Janakala Centre.
This programme has been implemented to introduce new technology and
designs to traditional craftsmen. This programme is being conducted by
veteran artiste Senake de Silva. |
