Minister urges patriots :

Defeat plots to destabilise Lanka

Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that Western powers who shed crocodile tears in the past for the Sinhala population with the aim of capturing the hill country kingdom, were today shedding crocodile tears for the Tamil people to put pressure on the Sri Lankan government.

The minister said that Tiger terrorists’ international network was today attempting to destabilise and prevent the country from achieving progress when the government was doing its utmost to ensure speedy development after defeating 30 years of terrorism successfully.

Weerawansa said they were levelling various allegations against the government by saying the government had committed war crimes and conducting a so called Channel 4 drama with the aim of pressurising the government.

Minister Weerawansa made this observation at a function held at the BMICH main hall Friday to present life and health insurance coverage deeds to staff numbering 2,761 attached to the Sri Lanka State Engineering Corporation.

He said that we were today living in an era where dedication, love and enthusiasm was more necessary than any other era to protect the motherland at the risk of our lives as the country had already been rescued from the terrorists by soldiers who successfully defeated 30 years of terrorism. The minister said that not only Western powers, but also a certain female Chief Minister in India was maliciously demanding an imposition of sanctions against Sri Lanka. He said it was necessary for Sri Lanka to clearly understand from where such demands for sanctions were coming against Sri Lanka.
