Certain groups attempting to destabilize country - Premier

Prime Minister D M Jayaratne has warned the people that there are attempts by certain groups to destabilize the country by the use of money they have obtained from foreign countries through Non-Governmental Organizations.

He pointed out certain political groups were involved in an attempt to destabilize the country with the hope of making undue political advantage.

The Prime Minister said that the government was fully aware of the ulterior motives of those bankrupt politicians and the people too have the responsibility to realize the situation and act accordingly.

Prime Minister D M Jayaratne made this observation when he spoke at a recent religious ceremony held at Maithrigama Sri Sudarshanarama Aselapura, Welikanda in the Polonnaruwa district. The Prime Minister explained that the government after assuming office brought forward a new pension scheme but it had to get that pension scheme withdrawn due to mounting opposition from certain sections who did not properly understand its value.
