Mosquito Eradication Week begins today

The National Mosquito Eradication Week organized by the Health
Ministry will commence today, a Ministry spokesman told the Daily News
yesterday. He said that the inaugural programme will take place at the
Ananda Samarakoon Open Air Stage, Nugegoda under the patronage of Health
Minister Maithripala Sirisena.
The Health Minister is to participate in inspection tours at private
and government schools and institutions in Nugegoda today.
The spokesman said that the support of triforces and police has been
received for this programme. He said that the programme will cover all
305 MoH divisions islandwide. One division is divided into seven zones
and each zone will be covered in seven days under the programme, he
explained.
He requested the public to join the national programme by
implementing mosquito eradication programmes in their home, school and
office premises. He noted that 7,800 dengue cases have been reported in
the island during the past six months with 66 deaths. |
