Mobitel partners Smart Track

To provide fleet management, asset tracking solutions:

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel partnered Smart Track, a member of the Green Lanka Group of companies, to offer comprehensive fleet management and asset tracking solutions to local SMEs and enterprises.


Green Lanka Group Managing Director Captain Gamini Nanayakkara and Mobitel CEO Suren J. Amarasekera exchange agreements.

The Fleet Management Solution consists of a GPS (Global Positioning System) tracking unit fixed onto the vehicle and a web interface for the fleet administrator to monitor the fleet online. The tracking unit continuously fetches location information using GPS Technology and securely sends to the tracking server located at Smart Track engineering office via Mobitel network.

The data stored at the tracking server are made available through the visual monitoring interface to the fleet administrators to monitor and track fleet on a digital map, live or browse historic data with many other comprehensive statistics such as vehicle mileage, average speed, fuel consumption etc., coupled with many more controlling and alarming options such as Geo-Fencing to effectively manage the fleet. Such tracking solutions are enhanced with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to provide asset tracking and management solutions which are vital especially for business involving heavy inventory control and distribution such as logistics and Cargo, FMCG and the likes.

“In the face of ever increasing fuel and administration costs, the ability to track the exact location, of a company’s fleet and assets will definitely help better manage inventory, transportation and distribution thereby dramatically reduce costs elevating businesses in Sri Lanka.” said Smart Track (Pvt) Ltd. Sparta Matrix Inc USA is the main technology provider for Smart Track GPS and GPRS and RFID solutions a US government accredited global leader in infrastructure development and systems integration of IT logistics and Transport Engineering Systems, having over 40 strategic alliance partners around the world. Smart Track together with Sparta Matrix is also working on a proposal which would be beneficial for Sri Lanka Logistic Centre and Dry port concept in the close proximity of the ports of Sri Lanka.

Sierra Global helps northern ALAs

Sierra Global Network Private Limited, one of the leading telecommunication infrastructure development and managed services firms has donated a large number of shoes to students in the Vaddakachchi Maha Vidyalaya in Kilinochchi district which is one of the oldest schools in Kilinochchi district.

Madahapola attached to the Sri Lanka Air Force Iranamadu base camp, Sierra Global Director and CEO Dr Arosha Fernando, Sierra Global Division Government and Regulatory Affairs General Manager Commander Nihal Ratnayake, Sierra Global Chief Accountant Sampath Jayasinghe and Sierra Global Assistant Administration Manager Dennis Kleyn.

There are over 100 students currently studying in Vaddakachchi Maha Vidyalaya which is located close to the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Iranamadu base camp. This donation has been organized as part of the Iranamadu base camp second year anniversary.

“We are continuing our support to people in the Newly Liberated Areas (NLAs) as part of our commitment to develop the Northern Province which falls under our company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

In the past we have given number of scholarships, donated school books, school bags and other needy items under the same program” said Sierra Global Director CEO Dr. Arosha Fernando, who frequently travel to the Northern Province on monitoring the progress of telecommunication expansion projects in the region.

 

 

 

 


Ex police officers launch ‘X Detectives’

Suzuki Maruti races past record 10 million unit mark

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, India’s largest carmaker rolled out of its ten millionth Suzuki Maruti vehicle manufactured in India. The company achieved this historic milestone when a Metallic Breeze Blue WagonR VXi bearing Chassis No 243899 rolled out from the Company’s Gurgaon plant on March 15.

This landmark achievement, besides placing Suzuki Maruti up on the leader board with a select handful of carmakers worldwide to have reached the magical score, also makes the brand highest selling by far in India.

The largest manufacturer of elevating systems for vertical transportation, personal lifts, traditional and panoramic lifts, Italy’s IGV Group Strategic Business Development Manager Antonella Borrelli was recently in Colombo to seek a business partner to promote their equipment. Borrelli met representatives several prospective companies interested in representive the IGV Group.

The meetings were organized by the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with the Sri Lanka – Italy Business Council.
