Tremendous interest shown to logistics sector

Speaking at the 30th Annual General meeting (AGM) of Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders' Association (SLFFA) the newly elected Chairman Mohan S Mohanadas said, "We have seen a tremendous interest shown by the President and the government to develop the logistics sector. Massive investments have been made in developing new ports and airports and to upgrade the existing facilities.

"However, mere investment in physical facilities will not be adequate.

"While investing in upgrading physical resources in the logistic sector we must also be seriously looking at streamlining and improving the processes of export, import, transshipment, multi country consolidations and Entre Port trading. We need to provide an Efficient, Quality and Timely service.

"Central Bank Reports have indicated that the GDP is expected to grow at a healthy 8-9 percent this year and foreign reserves are at the highest with the Rupee being stable against the US$ and other currencies," he said.
