Five new electricity projects for A'pura
Five new electricity supply schemes set up at Mahahalmillawewa,
Galkandegama, Kellethirippane, Kalugalayaya 01 and Udukorasagalla in the
Anuradhapura District were commissioned by Power and Energy Minister
Patali Champika Ranawaka to coincide with the Poson Poya recently.
Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S.M. Chandrasena, Youth
Affairs and Skills Development Deputy Minister Duminda Dissanayake and
Provincial Minister Weerasena Gamage were also associated with Minister
Ranawaka during these events.
Minister Ranawaka addressing the gathering at these ceremonies said
the ministry had invested Rs 84 million on these five projects which
will benefit 361 families. The ministry is extending electricity
supplies to villages with the objective of imparting modern knowledge to
the student generation and help develop cottage industries into small
and medium scale industries contributing towards the development of the
national economy rather than to waste electricity in watching tele
dramas and cricket matches.
The minister said almost 81 percent of the Anuradhapura district is
now covered with electricity supply due to the strenuous efforts of his
ministry. |
