Jamaldeen - a century of points
Royal’s fly half Arshad Jamaldeen who has stood out with his
brilliant place kicking passed the 100-point mark by converting five
tries out of six in their schools under 20 segment one match against St.
Anthony’s at Nittawela on Saturday.
Eighteen year old Jamaldeen has now scored 105 points by scoring a
try, making 29 conversions, firing across 13 penalties and dropping a
goal in eight matches.
In addition his long kicks to touch has given his team territorial
advantage.
His chip kicks and grubbers have also had the opponents defence in
disarray. He has played a major role in his school’s success this season
with Royal remaining unbeaten with eight victories.
His performance this year against each school - St. Joseph’s (18
points), Wesley (18 points), Isipatana (six points), Kingswood (eight
points), Thurstan (17 points), Dharmaraja (15 points), Trinity (13
points) and St. Anthony’s (10 points).
Arshad seems to be following in the footsteps of his illustrious
father Nizam Jamaldeen who scored over a century of points for five
consecutive years (1985 to 1989) playing for the Sri Lanka Police.
He also represented Sri Lanka with distinction from 1986 to 1991. |
