J’pura undergrad remanded in threatening case

An undergraduate of the Sri Jayawardenapura University was remanded until June 16 for allegedly threatening the Vice Chancellor with bodily harm. He had been arrested following a complaint made by the Sri Jayawardenapura University Vice Chancellor.

Driver attack in Panadura road rage incident:

Police press ahead with search for 15 more suspects

Police are searching for more suspects in the Panadura bus driver attack, said Mount Lavinia Division SSP A H Adhikari yesterday. The attack on the driver led to a crippling transport strike on Colombo-Galle road involving private bus workers of the Panadura bus depot, from June 1 to June 4. ‘The police have arrested three suspects regarding the attack, Adhikari said. The suspects are employees attached to the CTB. They are remanded in police custody, he said.

Six arrested in garment factory robbery

Six suspects involved in the robbery of yarn valued at Rs 790,000 from a garment factory in the Biyagama Free Trade Zone were arrested by Biyagama police. Police also recovered Rs 600,000 worth of yarn.
