Treasure hunters arrested

Officials attached to the 10th post camp of the Special Police Force took into custody seven suspects on June 4 while excavating for archaeological items after entering Karandaoya Lahugala Reserve unlawfully.

They have also recovered various tool, equipment and accessories used for excavation.

The suspects were due to be produced before the Potuvil magistrate.

The Potuvil Police are conducting investigations.
