New house for Ranaviru Real Star
Sri Lanka Navy’s Commander Damien Fernando who won the Ranaviru Real
Star title with his exceptional singing and created history by claiming
the coveted trophy at the inaugural event, was presented with a new
house Saturday.
The keys to the new house, located at Battaramulla, were handed over
to him by Defence Ministry Seva Vanitha Unit Chairperson Ioma Rajapaksa.
Director General MCNS Lakshman Hulugalle, Vice-Chairperson (SVU) Indu
Rathnayake, Navy Seva Vanitha Unit President Neluka Dissanayake,
Commander,Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damayantha Dharmasiriwardene,
Directors General of the Navy and a large number of well-wishers were
present.
The famed ‘Ranaviru’ musical personality, Commander Damien, beaming
with happiness moved into his new house with his wife, Lieutenant
Commander (Rtd) Kaushalya Opatha Fernando and his children, Kalsha (9),
Cecilia (6) and baby Sebian (5 months) who were elated with joy to share
their father’s happiest moment in life.
It was a special occasion for Commander Damien’s ‘Navy Family’ for
they will now be living in a new home, which was, incidentally built by
the Navy.
The two storeyed house exclusively built for the first ever reality
TV show of the Tri-forces, organized by the Ministry of Defence, comes
fully furnished with all amenities.
The engineering personnel of the Navy completed the construction of
the house, valued at Rs. 15 million within two months, under the
direction of Director General of the Naval Engineering.
