Govt thanks masses

The government expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the people for not allowing a recurrence of the incident at the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) by defeating the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) plot to launch an anti-government campaign by creating unrest again, among those who participated at the funeral of FTZ employee Roshen Chanaka.

A Government Information Department release said that Roshen Chanaka's family members had confirmed that Roshen did not belong to any political party and thus the JVP was unable to take undue advantage of the situation.

It also said that it was regrettable that the JVP was attempting to destabilise the country once again at a time the government was taking action to undertake massive development projects after defeating 30 years of terrorism.
