Iran assures continuous support to Lanka
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia and Oceania, of
Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Ali Fathollahi called on External
Affairs Deputy Minister Neomal Perera at the ministry last week and
discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.
Deputy Minister Perera apprised the visiting Iranian deputy minister
of the current political situation in Sri Lanka and the massive
development and reconciliation processes undertaken by the government
towards re-building the nation.
The two ministers who took stock of the trade and economic relations
between the two countries, stressed the need for implementing the
decisions of the recently concluded Joint Commission as means to further
strengthening the ties between the two countries.
The visiting deputy minister who carried a special message from
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to President Mahinda Rajapaksa,
assured Iran's continuous support and cooperation for the stability of
Sri Lanka. |
