To mark Sambuddhatva Jayanthi:

Rehabilitated ex-LTTEers to be released

Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe said that a large numbers of former LTTE cadres who were put through rehabilitation programmes will be reintegrated into society next month to mark the Sambuddhatva Jayanthi.

"All those who will be reintegrated to the society are married and have children too."

He said that the date and the number of persons who will be released have not yet been decided.

Major General Ranasinghe told the Daily News that they received speed training in areas where they would be able to carry on self employment.

More than 6,500 LTTE cadres out of 11,000 who surrendered to the armed forces at the end of the war have been re-integrated to the society.
