RFCs must go for IPOs

For real capital market development:

More Registered Finance Companies (RFCs) are opting to be listed through introduction to meet the deadline of June 30. The Central Bank has made it compulsory for registered financial companies to be listed in the market for transparency. There are two methods of listing, by an initial public offering (IPO) or listing through introduction. The IPO is a long process and registered finance companies need to meet the June deadline.

HNB goes ‘green’ with bank building

In keeping with the efforts to contribute to environment sustainability, Hatton National Bank (HNB) will open the country’s first green bank branch in Nittambuwa on June 2. The bank branch is built according to a green concept and the HNB has invested Rs 125 million to make it environmental friendly.

Hotel sector can generate 80,000 more jobs - Cooray

Sri Lanka needs around 60,000 to 80,000 additional people for the Hotel sector to cater to the 2.5 million tourists target. Addressing the SLASSCOM HR Summit 2011 on the theme of ‘HR challenges in post conflict nations’ Jetwing Hotels Ltd Chairman Hiran Cooray said they are optimistic that they would be able to cross the one million tourist mark by 2012.
