New holiday resort in Jaffna

Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W D J Senewiratne made a three-day official visit to the Jaffna district to inspect the development projects underway and to launch new projects.

The newly built holiday resort in Old Park area in Jaffna was opened by the Minister during his visit.

The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry had built this circuit bungalow from financial assistance from Kuwait under the Strengthening Civil Administration Program (SCAP) which allocated Rs 13 million for this project.

Kuwait had provided financial support to reconstruction activities in the North and East provinces while the government distributed the funds for several development projects in those areas. The government officials face accommodation problems when they travel to Jaffna for official works.

Both local and foreign tourists too face this problem.

Therefore, the newly built holiday resort will be beneficial to them.
