LAC opens 62nd branch

The Legal Aid Commission (LAC) opened its 62nd branch of the Legal Aid Centre at the Balangoda Court Complex recently.

The new Legal Aid Centre would provide assistance to people in Balangoda and its suburbs to deal with matters related to human rights, child rights, anti-corruption, elders rights, protection for persons with disabilities, school programs and training of public officers in human rights and humanitarian law, said the LAC Chairman S. S. Wijeratne.

The Chief Guest at the opening ceremony was Public Adminstration Minister W D J Seneviratne.

Dr. Chandra Pinnawala was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.
