Special traffic plan for Victory Day Parade
A special traffic plan has been arranged in the Colombo city on
Friday for the Victory Day Parade which is to be held at the Galle Face
Green. All heavy vehicles coming to Colombo via Galle Road from 5.00 am
onwards are advised to turn to W A de Silva Mawatha in Wellawatte and
arrive at Havelock Road and then proceed through the Park Road to
Baseline Road and to their preferred destinations from there onwards.
Light vehicles arriving in the city through the Galle Road should
turn right at the Bagatale Road and then have to proceed through
Duplication Road and Thurstan Road.
Several roads will be closed on Friday for transport until the events
come to a closure. They are Lotus Road in Colombo Fort, the stretch
between the York Street junction and the Galadari round about, from
Justice Akbar Mawatha and Malay Street junction in Slave Island to Macan
Marker junction, from Nawam Mawatha junction to Macan Marker junction,
the stretch between Glen Arber place upto Kollupitiya station.
Those who arrive to take part in the Victory Day Parade are advised
to park their vehicles at the vehicle park in front of 'Lake House'.
According to Police, from 6.00 am today until the parade is over
public access to the Galle Face has been restricted.
The traffic Police have been deployed to assist the motorists.
