Regional government heads’ participation made compulsory at DDCs

The participation of all respective regional government heads for all
district development committees was made compulsory from today onwards
by the co-president of the Colombo District Development Committee and
Petroleum Resources Minister Susil Premajayantha.
He made this mandatory order for all government officers while
participating at the Colombo District Development Committee meeting
yesterday.
District secretariats were vested with powers and responsibility to
ensure participation of all responsible officers through a proper
communication.
The participation is mandatory unless due to unavoidable
circumstances, he said.
All stakeholders of the Colombo District Committee development which
comprises Ceylon Electricity Pvt Ltd, Road Development Authority,
Irrigation and Water Supply Board, Irrigation Department and Provincial
Road Development Authority should attend the meeting to proceed with the
prompt actions after finalizing them at the meeting.
The Colombo district development problems and development projects
will be discussed at the district development meeting which would be
held once a month. In addition, another one day meeting will be held
with the participation of representatives of all government heads of
institutions and provincial secretaries.
There are 13 provincial secretariats in the Colombo district. Copies
of all provincial level development projects should be submitted to the
Ministers who hold the co-presidentship in the Colombo district and to
all provincial secretaries, the Minister said.
He further directed the officials to maintain a close relationship in
the process of implementing development projects. Pipelines should be
laid in each road before carpeting roads, he pointed out.
All Provincial Councils should maintain discipline in dealing with
the development projects. And also ,water canals should be cleaned by
the respective provincial councils hereinafter, he said.
