Efforts to widen SL - Italy economic ties

The Sri Lanka - Italy Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently organized a welcome reception for Ambassador for Italy in Sri Lanka Fabrizio Pio Arpea at Waters Edge, Battaramulla.

The President of the Council Ranjit Jayewardene in his address welcomed the Italian Ambassador for the first event organized by the Council and reiterated that the time has come for, to seek more comprehensive efforts to widen economic co-operation between the two countries, beyond conventional economic means, in order to truly create an even more advantages economic relationship, to both sides and move beyond the “The land of boat people, and House maids.”

The Italian Ambassador addressing the gathering stated that whist Italy had indeed provided much support to Sri Lanka in the past it was time to look forward into the future in order to create stronger economic and social ties between the two countries and requested the members to work closely with the Embassy towards the development of trade.
