Dialog Axiata PLC Group CEO Dr Hans Wijayasuriya said compared to
other countries, work ethics in Sri Lanka is quite good.
The formal education system in the country needs to build job
relevance skills with same level quality required in the international
arena. It is also vital to team up with local academies to find out the
right talents to cater to future job requirements of companies.
In addition, to be globally competitive, companies should outsource
foreign expertise and know-how for a short time for the better
performances of these companies.
Speaking at a forum yesterday he said from top to down, and bottom to
up, employees should be given freedom to follow up their passions and
come up with their ideas. Having an innovative culture in a workplace
would also be an important element that would rewards the employees and
employers immensely.
Local companies should dispel fears of investing in human capital and
opportunities should be given for them to grow with the company with
much job satisfaction. In addition, employees' performance dimensions
have to be broadened to identify the right talents particularly human
and management skills required for the relevant industries, he said.
