In keeping with the efforts to contribute to environment
sustainability, Hatton National Bank (HNB) will open the country’s first
green bank branch in Nittambuwa on June 2. The bank branch is built
according to a green concept and the HNB has invested Rs 125 million to
make it environmental friendly.
The HNB Customer Centre in Nittambuwa is a green building structure
that is environmentally responsible and resources efficient and the
state of the art building embodies the very essence of the green
concept. “The HNB has taken the lead in environment conservation and
this will also have a positive impact on the overall performance,” HNB
Deputy General Manager Piyal Hennayake said.
The building will help save energy upto 30 percent while saving on
water will be 70 percent. “This would enable the bank to be cost
effective,” he said.
The HNB Nittambuwa is the first bank building in Sri Lanka to receive
the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification
from the US Green Building Council.
