Morning showers in coastal areas

Showers can be expected in coastal areas specially in the mornings due to the pre-monsoon condition, the Met Dept said. The department predicted that the south west monsoon will start after May 15.

Sri Lanka is affected by two monsoons the South West Monsoon and North West Monsoon.

The South West monsoon is in May bringing heavy rains to the Western Province, Sabaragamuwa Province, Galle and Matara districts. The North East monsoon is in October and lasts until January, according to the Met Dept.
