Lens which is a mirror to nature

First place international black and white

Roo Chaya, a photographic exhibition and competition organized by the photographic club of Devi Balika, Colombo 8 took place at National Art Gallery recently. The competition has a history which goes back to 2001.

At the inception the competition and the subsequent program was held at national level but now it has been upgraded to international level. This time photographs form foreign schools were also welcome. "So this is a time we see the fruits of the program," Devi Balika Principal Pradeepa Samarasinghe added addressing the gathering at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

The Devei Balika photographic club has provided a platform for not only Devians but also for the students from other schools who have shown their potential for photography.

In fact, some photos exhibited in the exhibition have shown the mettle of students who would excel as photographer if they would continue their enthusiasm.
