Local artistes yesterday requested all communities in Sri Lanka to
join hands in a massive Adhishtana Pooja to seek divine blessings to
protect the country against international forces who are trying to
divide the motherland. The Adhishtana Pooja is planned for May 6 at 6.30
pm at the Independence Square.
This massive Adhishtana Pooja will be attended by all religious
dignitaries, artistes and intellectuals.

Addressing a media-briefing yesterday, veteran director Somaratne
Dissanayake said he would like to ask the UN Security Council (UNSC)
where he will take the same steps to find out whether human rights were
protected when Osama bin Laden was killed.
"Sri Lanka is engaged in the delicate task of forging national unity
and progress through reconciliation, rehabilitation and reconstruction
in the aftermath of the war," he said.
"It was purely due to its brutality that the LTTE was listed as a
proscribed outfit in more than 15 countries including India, Canada, the
United States and Britain," Dissanayake said.
Former National Film Corporation (NFC) Chairperson Asoka Serasinghe,
pointed out that Obama thanked his team. He addressed them as the "my
patriotic team".
The American CIA cross a country's borders and killed a person who
was sleeping.
He further pointed out that Osama bin Laden did not kill any world
leaders but Prabakaran did. So how much more important it is to see the
end of Prabhakaran.
He said that this should be canvassed before the UN Security
Council." We all must come together to defeat international conspiracies
intended to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka.
"America has been doing everything in their power to prevent us
forging ahead and becoming a powerful country in this region for a long
time. These false allegations are to prevent our country from rising,"
he said.
The controversial Darusman report is trying to create clashes and
destroy the unity between all Sri Lankans.
Actor and film Director Jackson Anthony said that the government has
been successful in restoring peace, stability and security in all parts
of the country. But now they were fearing another war due to this
international meddling.
The government is dealing with critical post-conflict issues, with a
view to erasing the pain and anguish of the past, while at the same time
consolidating national unity and future progress.
He requested Sri Lankans and Sri Lanka's friends in the international
community to assess these facts in a balanced manner and speak in one
voice to defeat international conspiracies.
Veteran musician Rohana Weerasinghe invited all artistes,
nationalities, political parties and religious groups to put aside all
disagreements and differences and join hands to protect the motherland.
A massive rally will be conducted by the artistes to show their
opposition to the controversial Darusman report along with the
Adhishtana Pooja. |
