English teacher vacancies filled soon -Wayamba CM

English teacher vacancies in Wayamba Province schools will be filled," said Wayamba Chief Minister Atula Wijesinghe addressing a felicitation ceremony at Janadhipathi Vidyalaya, Pambadeniya, Alawwa recently. He said that English language is essential in Sri Lanka's march towards development and the provincial education department has implemented many programmes to improve English knowledge among North Western Province schoolchildren.

The chief minister pointed out that many reading books required for higher education are written in English.

Therefore, it is imperative to improve English knowledge in schools.

He added that his Provincial Council had given basic training to all new teachers while funds have been allocated for further training.
