Public Administration:

Three units to deal with shortcomings

'The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry will establish three observation units, apart from the present investigation unit, to deal with shortcomings in islandwide Divisional Secretariats, District Secretariats and Grama Niladhari Divisions, said Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J.Seneviratne.

According to the Minister, the main objective is to enhance the efficiency of the public service to provide a better service to the public.

"It is necessary to find permanent solutions to the problem of bribery and corruption as there are lots of complaints received from the public, the Minister added.

He said that the ministry will take measures to transfer public servants from their work places after every six years and transfer them from district to district after twelve years.
