The All Ceylon Bakery Owners' Association (ACBOA) announced that the
price of a loaf of bread has been increased by Rs 2 with effect from
yesterday midnight.
ACBOA Chairman N K Jayawardena told the Daily News that the increase
in bread prices was due to the increase in flour prices by Rs 8.50 per
kilo by the two main wheat flour suppliers. He said that Prima Ceylon
Pvt Ltd and Serendib Company which import wheat flour have increased
wheat flour prices by Rs 4.10 and Rs 3.
"This is the reason we were forced to increase bread prices by two
rupees," he said. |
