Sea water samples have been collected for radiation testing, Atomic
Energy Authority Chairman Dr W Abeywickrema told the Daily News
yesterday. He said that six samples have been collected from different
places, starting from the Eastern to Southern waters.
He said that the Marine Pollution Prevention Authority is assisting
them in collecting these samples.
"This action is done to collect baseline data to check any effect to
our sea waters from the radiation leak of the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear
power plant to the sea."
The Chairman said that the sample checking will commence from Monday.
The first report will be released after a week. |
