Thousands of holiday makers from all corners of the country have flocked to this Holiday Resort with the school vacation. The hotels, holiday homes and private houses have been fully occupied, while a number of young men and women are seen holidaying in open grounds in their vehicles for want of accommodation.

The Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council has warned the public to use water sparingly due to the prevailing hot climatic conditions in Nuwara Eliya. Hence the Council has taken such measures of curtailing the available drinking water. The Council officials with loudhailers had warned the ratepayers and others not to use water for their vegetations and flower gardens. They also warned if they did so, their water lines will be disconnected and the hose pipes too will be requisitioned by the council, in addition to imposing of fines.
