Duleep Mendis new Selection Committee chairman:
Not ready to be runners up again - Sports Minister
Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said
that Sri Lanka are not going to be satisfied as runners up again,
and few tough but extremely important decisions will have to be
taken in the near future for the betterment of Sri Lankan cricket.
He said so at a special press conference regarding the brand new
selection committee at the Olympic House yesterday. He also
mentioned that the new selection committee headed by veteran
cricketer and administrator Duleep Mendis would ensure a fresh
beginning to cricket specifically focusing on the 2015 world cup
with a new captain and a new vice captain.

Watson hits record 15 sixes
Aussies win three-match series:
Shane Watson smashed a record 15 sixes in a
career-best 185 not out as Australia clinched a three-match series
against Bangladesh with a nine-wicket win in the second one-dayer on
Monday. The explosive opener gave a superb display of power-hitting
as he also cracked 15 fours in his 96-ball knock to help Australia
achieve a 230-run target with 24 overs to spare for an unbeatable

Bens emerge cager champions
St Benedict’s College, Kotahena walked away with
the under 19 ‘A’ division Basketball Championship, defeating Maris
Stella College, Negombo with a comfortable 28 point lead in the
final which worked off at the St Josoph’s College, Maradana
yesterday. The final scores were 73-45. Sri Lanka Schools Basket
Ball Association conducted the tournament.
