FTZMA AGM successfully held

The 31st Annual General Meeting of FTZMA was successfully held on March 29 at Taj Airport Garden Hotel. Chairman Dhammika Fernando, Tropical Findings (Pvt) Ltd General Manager was re elected as Chairman for the year 2011/2012.

During his tenure as Chairman the previous year, FTZMA did well to achieve many feats benefiting investors as well as the employees of the member enterprises. Some far reaching benefits effecting the imports and exports documentation procedure of the whole country was simplified for BOI investors due to FTZMA initiatives. Many labour issues were negotiated successfully with the relevant agencies and image building initiatives, CSR initiatives are to mention a few. F Abdeen of ATG Lanka was elected Vice Chairman, Naren Wanigasooriya of Smart Shirts as the Secretary and P Mannakkara as the Treasurer.

Free Trade Zone Manufacturers' Association was started in 1979 with the inception of the first export processing zone in Katunayake 31 years ago. Since long this had been the premium organization represented the FDIs in Sri Lanka.

The aims and objects of the FTZMA are to foster and safeguard the interests of all the enterprises (in and serviced by BOI) singly and collectively the Free Trade Zone as defined and demarcated by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, from time to time.
