Waruna props up Sylvestrians

A fine knock of 67 with 10 fours by Waruna Wijesinghe helped St Sylvester's College total 187 at the end of first day's play in their 53rd 'Battle of the Blues' against Vidyartha College which began at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium yesterday. Waruna Wijesinghe had 4 fours and 3 sixes in his knock which was compiled in 142 balls.

Off spinner Ushan Wickremasinghe bowled best for Vidyartha taking 5 for 69.

At close, Vidyartha College had replied with 59 for 2 with Ruwan Bandara unbeaten on 49 which had 7 hits to the ropes.

St Sylvester's College 187 all out in 79 overs (Menuka Nanayakkara 15, Ruwantha Ekanayake 27, Waruna Wijesinghe 67, Niluka Kandaderage 15, Hansamal Perera 18, Thivanka Gunaratne 17, Ushan Wickremasinghe 5 for 69, Tilina Rupasena 2 for 50).
