Weapons haul in Vavuniya

The Police Special Task Force seized a haul of weapons including five claymore mines in Vavuniya during search operations conducted on Wednesday and Thursday.

The haul included claymore mines, RPG rounds, detonators, Arul bombs, hand grenades and anti personnel mines.

The search operations were conducted in Alampil North in Mulaitivu, Vellamullawaikkal, Settikulam and Periyathampane.

The weapons were handed over to the Mullaitivu Police and Settikulam Police.

Investigations were conducted by the STF led by Inspector E P S N Edirisinghe on the supervision of SSP Jayaweera on the instructions of STF Commandant DIG R W M C Ranawana.
