CSD New Year fair

A two day New Year Fair organized by the Seva Vanitha Unit of the
Civil Securitry Department (CSD) was opened by Defence Ministry Seva

The fair which is at the Car Park near the Civil Security Department
Head Quarters near the railway station at Bambalapitiya is open from 9
am to 6.30 pm for the public.
Personnel Administration Director and Media Coordinator of the Civil
Security Department Lieutenant Colonel Nihal Samarakoon told the Daily
News that the profit earned from the fair will be utilized to provide
welfare for the family members of the personnel in the Civil Security
Department.
The fair comprises stalls including garments, shoes, reed and ware
products, sweet meats, food items, vegetables, grains, handicraft and
other local products. Samarakoon said the items are sold at a cheaper
rate compared to the ordinary market. He said most products like rice,
corn, chillies,other grains were the crops of the Civil Security
Department's farms. Some items were directly collected from farmers and
producers. |
