Ministry aims fisheries boom

The Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry will earn 50
percent of the national income from the fisheries industry,said
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha
Senaratne.
The fisheries industry is one of the most prominent industries in Sri
Lanka. The country had been self sufficient from the fisheries industry
for a long time, he added. "Don't be afraid to invest on the fisheries
industry. I will get the responsibility of all those investments," the
Minister said.
Minister Senaratne was addressing the Shramabhimani Fisheries Award
Ceremony at th BMICH yesterday. The award ceremony was organized by the
Fisheries Ministry in collaboration with the Shramabhimani National
Organization to facilitate the fisheries community and various
industries involved in the fisheries industry.
Fisheries community representatives, various industries involved in
the fisheries industry and media personnel were awarded by the
Shramabhimani fisheries awards. "President Mahinda Rajapaksa eliminated
terrorism from the North and East provinces. That was one of the
greatest things which he had done for Sri Lanka's development. Therefore
the people have a responsibility to support the President to achieve
country's development goals," the Minister said.
The country has to protect all aquatic resources. It will help
develop tourism industry, he said. |
