Listing of buildings under the second stage of Population and Housing
Census 2011 will be conducted in April, said Census and Statistics
Department Director General D B P Suranjana Vidyaratne.
Addressing a press conference held at the Information Department
yesterday she said that each and every housing unit and building will be
given a number in this operation. This number is fixed as a label on
each structure.
All buildings will be categorized into three sections namely as
'housing units', 'collecting living quarters' and 'non residential
units', she said. The main purpose of this listing is to identify the
units where people live thus enabling visit to these places during
census enumeration.
The listing operation is carried out by Grama Niladhari Officers
under the supervision of the District Administration.
The Department expects to complete the listing operation before end
of April.
The Director General requested the public to give their fullest
support to Grama Niladhari Officers to carry on this task.
She also asked not to remove the label which will be fixed onto the
building until the census is completed. She advised the people to inform
the Grama Niladhari Officer of the respective area if a label was not
fixed on their house by the end of April.
She said that the third stage of the census will be started in the
third quarter of this year. |
