Centenary International Women’s Day:

Interactive evening

An interactive evening on behalf of Centenary International Women’s Day celebrations will be held today at the Salon Anthurium, Galadari Hotel, Colombo at 6.00 pm.

The Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce will organize the event. The guest speaker will be Prof Veena Sikri who will deliver her speech on Women of South Asia.

Veena Sikri, is a force to reckoned with having established herself in the field of academics and is armed with a wide range of skills and experience ranging from visiting lecturer to honorary advisor, Academy of Third World Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, where her focus has been Bangladesh studies.

She has published “Democracy and the People of Bangladesh” in ‘Third Frame’ - Volume 1 as well as Bangladesh: a watershed year” in India’s National Security Annual Review (INSAR) 2008 to name a few.

She currently holds the position of professor Ford Foundation Chair, Jamia Millia Islamia.
