NCCSL seminar
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will hold a seminar
"Bilateral Trade with Canada" on Wednesday April 6, from 3 pm to 4.30 pm
in the Chamber Auditorium, No 450 D R Wijewardene Mw, Colombo.
Main focus of the seminar is to create awareness about the
opportunities available for both Sri Lanka and Canada to increase the
volume of trade between the two countries.
Canadian High Commissioner Bruce Levy will be the guest speaker. Levy
will speak on "Opportunities for Bilateral Trade and Investment
Promotion in Canada".
As per the trade statistics there is a promising potential for both
the countries to increase the volume of trade.
Sri Lanka exports a number of items which include apparel, rubber
products, tea, coffee, spices, textiles, fibres, paper, pearls, fish
products, toys, ceramic products, wood and wood products, cereals,
chemical products, leather products and vegetable products to Canada.
In 2010 Sri Lanka exported products to a value of US $ 94 million to
Canada. While at the same time Sri Lanka has imported products to a
value of US $ 253 million from Canada. The trade deficit is US $ 159
million. |
