Network Communications buoyant with sales demand

Sri Lanka’s ICT industry is demonstrating an upward momentum with the
increased demand for laptops, smart phones, notebooks and IT related
services and products.
Network Communications (Pvt) Ltd Chief Executive Officer Larry Adams
said many IT related service providers have not been able to supply
laptops on par with the increased demand for IT.
“Laptops and desktops are recording increased sales surpassing 11,000
to 15,000 units per month, of which 50 to 65 percent of sales come from
laptops alone.
Information Technology has touched the 90 percent of the country and
at the moment demand for the remaining balance is also increasing.
Commenting on smart phones sales in the country Adams said one in
every ten phones sold are smart phones and very soon nine out of every
ten phones sold would be smart phones. “People are more into interacting
with each one for personal, business and other purposes and having a
business oriented phone would be their main aspiration”, he said.
Adams added that 90 percent of the places in the country have been
Wi-Fi ed giving much comfort particularly for individuals and corporates.
There are many Wi-Fi zones in the country. This present scenario will
definitely help to attract more international ventures to the country by
spurring the entire economy.
In addition it has been a main catalyst to have rapid sales in
portable devices such as phones, laptops and notebooks.
The company is expanding with plans of setting up over 50 branches
islandwide.
The total expansion process will cost around Rs 300 to 400 million.
Having undestood the potential of the animation industry, company is
prepared to tap the animation industry and sell the upshots to the
international markets in the near future. |
