Zardari condemns US air strikes

PAKISTAN: Pakistan President Assif al Zardari condemned the attacks made by US drones in the northwest of his country and urged President Barack Obama to stop incursions.

The Pakistani President, who met a delegation of US congressmen here Thursday mentioned in particular the recent bombing perpetrated by one of these unmanned aircraft against an assembly of elders in the tribal area of North Waziristan killing 44 people.

According to Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar Zardari told his interlocutors that this kind of events intolerable.

The US has made this month more than a dozen raids in the tribal areas of north western Pakistan and said the missiles are directed against members of the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban who are waging war against NATO troops deployed in the neighbouring country.
